1655--my new address!

Yes, it's true, I have given up my large house on the hill and its magnificent view! 1655 is smaller, on one level, nearer to Jenn and Jeff (a 5-minute stroll), and it suits me.

The decision was neither quick nor easy. I imagine it took over a year to listen to the persistent voice in my head. At first I laughed, sometimes even aloud!  But finally I began to listen and ponder its wisdom, discounting it repeatedly until one day, I realized it was right. The new house would represent my new beginning. I have learned a lot in the past four years, and I trust myself. This is good.

I shared my thoughts with my children at Christmas, and, after their surprise, they were supportive. When the search began, the dominoes fell quickly: My house sold in one day. This house was bought in one day. Escrow was kind of slow, but here I am.

I have felt so loved by my family during this transition. Certainly there have been tears. I stood in my Talus driveway for the last time sobbing with the arms of both grand-daughters wrapped tightly around me. I don't know how Jenn and Jeff manage to help me as much as they do with their full lives, but they are here for me unquestioningly. Jamie was here during his spring break and helped with numerous details. I am so loved; what a wonderful feeling it is!

I will now share some photos of my new domain. There are still things out of place here and there, as well as a bag of potatoes for Easter dinner. Please look at the bones and feel my happiness.

Here is the view from the front door. Following are the two halves of my studio--there HAD to be studio space or we wouldn't consider it!  These are Part A:

And Part B:

I am surrounded by memories and things I love. From where I am sitting this minute, this is what I see--
a sailboat and a picture of Chuck and me.

Now into the Great Room:

See the open kitchen behind with stools at the counter? Here is more of the kitchen, which, by the way, is just my size--

The dining room is to the right--

At the opposite end from the dining room is
a  comfy chair near the gas fireplace! Lots of light for reading too.

Down the hall is a laundry room passing to the garage (You don't really need to see it) , and a wretchedly pink guest room,
which will be painted fairly soon, though my first guests had no trouble at all with the color, especially when the lights were out!

My pleasant office/treadmill room is adjacent--

Standing at the corner of the hallway with my back toward the guest room and office, looking back toward the Great Room:

and turning right toward the Master Bedroom:

Now the Master bedroom itself--
and its bathroom

with a BIG soaking tub! I've never had one!

There you have it, my new home. Please come and visit me at 1655!
