I am doing well with preparations: I have my anti-malarial pills; I've sprayed my clothes for the rainforest with insect repellent; I've been out to buy one more pair of pants since we'll spend some time in cities where I won't need hiking gear. Yesterday I picked up a bit of Peruvian money (Soles, they're called), and I have lists and clothes everywhere. This evening is the choir party, tomorrow I'll make my last announcements in church for a while--BUT while I'm away, donate some peanut butter to your local food bank, will you?
Mary and Jim arrive tomorrow late afternoon, and we'll have a day to complete preparations before beginning the grand adventure.
I am nervous about some things--side effects of the anti-malaria drug, creepy insects in the rain forest--also huge snakes--but mostly and am thrilled and excited! I mean, really, Peru?!! Who knew?!
Stay tuned, more to come in a few days, though my room in the rain forest doesn't have electricity, so don't be alarmed if I miss a day or two here and there. By the way, I'm going to celebrate my birthday at Machu Picchu--how cool is that!!!!
Soon and very soon...
