Oh, What a Beautiful Day!

Can you believe it? Another perfectly lovely day in Bled, Slovenia! While Bill attended conference meetings, Mary and I walked around Bled Lake, approx. 7 km. This photo shows the lake as seen from above:

Although you can't see them from this vantage point, there are houses and hotels tucked into the trees and farther back from the lake. Here are two examples:

In addition to the architecture, we saw a statue of a running woman being attacked by a dog! That is not included, instead I enclose this shot that my mini decided to take on its own:
I find it charming, looks like a pen and ink sketch by Picasso or Daumier.

Near the far end of the lake is Bled Island upon which is located a monastery

Whose church contains this altar, carved in 1747, dedicated to Mary, the Queen of Heaven:
Isn't it fabulous?
We traveled to and from the island on a pletna, a shallow boat rowed by a standing man. I find pletnas charming and aesthetic, I'm sure you'll agree.
Tomorrow we're heading into Ljubljina, the capital of Slovenia and its largest city.
